Twitter is one of the many things that Bloggers love on the internet, heck who doesn’t. Tweets have become a part of our life, people wake up in the morning and tweet about how cold it’s outside, although Facebook status updates is a tough competition. Everybody has heard of twitter, even if they don’t have an account. Twitter has become one of the top web portals to share news and tell others what’s going on. Everyone literally tweets about almost anything, in some cases it’s through Twitter that the world finds about things first. Even the news channels, the internet as a whole isn’t as fast as Twitter tweets.

One of the main problems all these Social Media/Networking sites have is Security. I wouldn’t call it problems, but rather loop-holes for hackers and crazies to break into someone’s twitter or Facebook account and steal data and spam pages. As Cyber-Terrorism is on the rise, people can easily see what’s going on with a certain Twitter user and use valuable information that get tweeted for bad causes. To prevent such things from happening all these social networking sites have been working really hard on improving security and closing any loopholes present.Now, I’m guessing, everyone here knows what HTTPS is and how it happens to be more secure than using HTTP. And everyone should also know that, to view your favorite web-pages and services securely you can just add “https://” instead of “http://” to the address. You could do that in Twitter too, but now they’ve announced that there will be an option in your Twitter settings wherein you’ll have an option to always enable ‘https’. If you don’t want people to get hold of your tweets or know what you’re up to, enabling this option will help you avoid potential stalkers.

The ‘Enable HTTPS’ option is still not available for Twitter on Mobile, but the team has promised that they are working on it and the features will be implemented soon enough. All you have to do to enable this option on Twitter.com is, go to the Settings page and you’ll see a ‘HTTPS Only’ option under the Account tab. Checking the same will result in your Twitter account always using the HTTPS setting and of course better security.
