Ways to Survive as a Hacker

This article will show you some of the top ways the best hackers use to keep themselves hidden and out of jail and to be a better hacker. Educational purposes only. Written for beginners.

1.Never tell anyone you are a hacker

2.Never hack without a proxy

3.Always use a proxy when doing anything remotely illegal

4.Never hack from your house

5.Never use your real name in a conversation or sign up sheet

6.Always use fake information when signing up for something such as an account

7.Never use the same password more than once

8.Never use a password that can be found in the dictionary

9.Always use a firewall

10.Never let the F.B.I. into your house without a warrant stating their intentions.

11.Never let the F.B.I. in period.

12.Always have a panic button that mass deletes all your questionable material.

13.Make sure that the deletion of your files it is at least in compliance with the Department of Defenses file deletion protocol if you have time; The Guttman Method is the best.

14.Never hack from the same computer twice if possible

15.Always wave to cops

You might say to yourself that you do not follow one or more of these rules. This is why most hackers get caught. They forget to cover their tracks and get busted. The more rules you abide by, the better your chances are of staying hidden.

Vietnam Rebuffs Hacking Claims From Google

Posted by Free Mobile Recharge Tuesday, April 6, 2010 0 comments

Vietnam tersely rejected charges from Google that tens of thousands of Vietnamese-speaking PC users around the world were targeted by hackers.

The country's Foreign Ministry published a statement on Saturday after fielding a question from the press about Google's blog post, which was published on its online security blog on March 30.

"Such comments are groundless," said Vietnamese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Nguyen Phuong Nga. "We have on many occasions clearly expounded our view on issues relating to access to and use of information and information technology, including the Internet. Vietnam law puts in place specific regulations against computer virus and malware as well as on information security and confidentiality."

A Google security official, Neel Mehta, wrote that the company had discovered a type of malicious software that was disguised as Vietnamese keyboard language software. The software was used to spy on the owners of computers and to conduct distributed denial-of-service attacks "against blogs containing messages of political dissent."

"Specifically, these attacks have tried to squelch opposition to bauxite mining efforts in Vietnam, an important and emotionally charged issue in the country," Mehta wrote.

Following up on Google's research, security vendor McAfee said the malware created a botnet whose command-and-control systems were located within IP (Internet Protocol) address blocks assigned to Vietnam.

"We believe that the perpetrators may have political motivations and may have some allegiance to the government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam," wrote McAfee CTO George Kurtz.

McAfee said the attacks do not appear to be related to Aurora, an extensive hacking network linked to China and outed by Google in January. The company two weeks ago defied Chinese law and stopped censoring its search results in China in protest. Google said that hackers targeted the Gmail accounts of human rights activists along with intellectual property of at least 20 other companies.

The Vietnamese malware purports to be the VPSKeys driver used to create accent marks in the right locations on Windows machines, according to McAfee. The code is less sophisticated than the malware used in the Aurora attacks, McAfee said.

On Tuesday, computer security researchers released a report on a new cyber-espionage network that once again targeted entities such as the Indian military, the Office of the Dalai Lama and the United Nations.

The Shadow network was traced to Chengdu, in China's Sichuan province, where the perpetrators used a variety of social networking tools to control compromised computers. As of Tuesday, China's National Computer Network Emergency Response Technical Team (CNCERT) said it had not been notified of the report by the researchers.

China denies hacking allegations

Posted by Free Mobile Recharge 0 comments

China on Tuesday dismissed reports that Chinese hackers have broken into top secret files of the Indian Defence Ministry and embassies around the world, saying that it was firmly opposed to hacking and regards it as an international crime.

"We have been hearing frequently these kind of news and I do not know the purpose to stir up issues," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Jiang Yu said, replying to questions about reports of hacking of sensitive Indian sites in the media today.

"Some people spread some information regarding the so-called China hacking activities. On this issue our policy is very clear and we are firmly opposed to all kinds of hacking activities through internet," she said, adding "Hacking is an international crime and all nations should join hands to deal with hacking crimes."

A new report called 'Shadow in the Clouds' by Canadian and American researchers based at the University of Toronto has said that a spy operation called 'Shadow Network' based out of China has tapped into top secret files of the Indian government.

Grey Hat Hackers

Posted by Free Mobile Recharge 0 comments

A grey hat hacker is someone who is in between these two concepts. He may use his skills for legal or illegal acts, but not for personal gains. Grey hackers use their skills in

order to prove themselves that they can accomplish a determined feat, but never do it in order to make money out of it. The moment they cross that boundary, they become black hackers.

White Hat and Grey Hat Hacker

Posted by Free Mobile Recharge 0 comments

Thanks to movies and books, our image of hackers has been distorted. What is worse, the public is not able to understand terms like grey hat, white hat, linux OS, or cracker.

However, the truth is that the subculture of the hacker world is more complex than we think. Especially if we consider that, these are very intelligent people.

What Is A White Hat Hacker?

According to Hollywood, a hacker can be a wiz kid who spends too much time with computers and suddenly finds himself submerged in the world of cyber-security or criminal conspirators. On the other hand, he can be a master criminal who wants to obtain huge amounts of money for him, or even worse, dominate the world.

Computer Crimes

Posted by Free Mobile Recharge 0 comments

One of the most famous for his computer crimes hacking was Kevin Mitnick, who was tracked by computer, and caught in 1995. He served a prison sentence of about five years. Others have likewise been caught. Another case is that of Vasily Gorshkov from Russia, who was 26 years old when convicted in 2001. He was found guilty of conspiracy and computer crime. Other individuals have also been found guilty and sentenced -and many others remain on trial. If you are one who pays much attention to the news, then you know that every now and then, you will hear of another hacker that has been caught, or a group of hackers that have been arrested because of their criminal activities. The interesting thing is that it is often others who had learned hacking techniques, and are now using them to catch other criminal hackers.Another criminal hacker, who called himself Tasmania, made big news when he fled Spain on various charges of stealing into bank accounts online, and banks, and went to Argentina. There he went into operation again. He was quickly tracked to Argentina, and the governments of Spain and Argentina went after him with surveillance, first. Before long, he was arrested, along with 15 other men, and was then extradited back to Spain (in 2006) where he could face up to 40 years in prison.

Detecting Hackers

Most of the time, a hacker can enter your computer, look around and you will never know it. Neither Windows, nor most other general programs can detect hackers - until they start messing around with your files. Windows, however, has now provided a number of updates for computer users, and it would be prudent to get them all downloaded and installed on your computer as quickly as possible.Another thing that will give you hacker protection is to make sure that you have an up to date antivirus and anti-spyware program, along with a good firewall in place. Make sure that it is capable of stopping general hacker attacks. Most likely there will be many daily attempts by hacker programs (running on automatic) to access your computer, but remember that it also becomes necessary to have an actual IP address of the attempted hack before you can actually be reporting hackers. Knowing how to catch a hacker with the right software is also available on the Internet (much of it is free), and it will allow you to track and get the necessary information.

While the tools and programs that hackers use to get access to your computer and your information constantly get better, you need to know also that so is the software and protection that has recently become available to protect you from them. Remember that no program is foolproof, and that you will need to be continually getting some of the newest and latest protection, as well as keeping up with hacking protection news.

Cyber hacking will continue as long as there are computers and money to be gained from them. New computer hacking laws are also continually being added to the books, along with the agencies needed to enforce those laws. But, it is your own diligence in keeping your computer protected that will help you most from becoming a victim of those cyber crimes.

Ethical Hackers

Posted by Free Mobile Recharge 0 comments

If you remember the Star Wars movies, there were two sides of the Force. The light side and the dark side. In the world of hacking, ethical hacking is considered the light side of hacking. Why?Because ethical hackers use their skills and abilities for a constructive matter. Their intention is to offer adequate protection to their clients and assure them that they will be safe from hacker attacks. But it isn't easy to become a certified ethical hacker. You need to gain some reputation along with work experience in security field.

What Is Ethical Hacking?

They dedicate their skills to serve their clients. Instead of spending long nights inside obscure rooms filled with computers looking for some victim, they work inside corporations, finding ways to protect the networks and computer systems.

Who Does This?

A hacker is a person who finds enjoyment in increasing the capacity of any device. When the personal computers appeared, hackers turned their attention to them and a new underground was created. Unfortunately, bad elements within the community and criminal organizations have given a bad reputation to this group. Among the public opinion the media is widely responsible for reporting crackers as hackers. Their lack of knowledge on means adopted by hackers and crackers has brought a bad name to hackers as well.Nowadays three type of hackers can be found: white, grey and black. White hackers are those who use their knowledge for selling their services to clients who want to protect their networks. Black hackers (also known as crackers) are the ones who attack those networks and try to make some money out of it.

Grey hackers are more ambiguous. They don't do it for the money; they do it for the rush. They want to show the world and their hacker friends how good they are.

So, were does ethical hackers fall? Well, they are inside the white hackers group. But being a white hacker doesn't transform you into an ethical hacker. There are some things that you need to do first.

What Are The Requirements For Ethical Hacking?

The first requirement is to be trustworthy. And for that, you will need to make a name. How? You need to start from the beginning: down. The first step is academic. Most of ethical hackers have written papers on this matter and published through an academic institution. This is an excellent method to show the world how preoccupied you are for computer security and that you have a desire to protect people from the dangers of the internet.

History of 86-Dos and a language vendor

Posted by Free Mobile Recharge Saturday, August 22, 2009 0 comments

Short History of MS-DOSDevelopment of MSDOS/PCDOS began in October 1980, when IBM began searching the market for an operating system for the yet-to-be-introduced IBM PC.

IBM had originally intended to use Digital Research's (actually, they had the somewhat pretentious name of "Intergalactic Digital Research" at the time) CP/M was then the industry standard operating system - you either ran a BASIC with disk functions, someone's proprietary OS, or CP/M.

Folklore reports various stories about the rift between DRI and IBM. The most popular story claims Gary Kildall or DRI snubbed the IBM executives by flying his airplane when the meeting was scheduled. Another story claims Kildall didn't want to release the source for CP/M to IBM, which would be odd, since they released it to other companies. One noted industry pundit claims Kildall's wife killed the deal by insisting on various contract changes. I suspect the deal was killed by the good ol' boy network. It's hard to imagine a couple of junior IBM executives giving up when ordered to a task as simple as licensing an operating system from a vendor. It wouldn't look good on their performance reports. It would be interesting to hear IBM's story...

IBM then talked to a small company called Microsoft. Microsoft was a language vendor. Bill Gates and Paul Allen had written Microsoft BASIC and were selling it on punched tape or disk to early PC hobbyists, which was probably a step up from the company's original name and goal - they were Traf-O-Data before, making car counters for highway departments.

Microsoft had no 8086 real operating system to sell, but quickly made a deal to license Seattle Computer Products' 86-DOS operating system, which had been written by Tim Paterson earlier in 1980 for use on that company's line of 8086, S100 bus micros. 86-DOS (also called QDOS, for Quick and Dirty Operating System) had been written as more or less a 16-bit version of CP/M, since Digital Research was showing no hurry in introducing CP/M-86. Paterson's DOS 1.0 was approximately 4000 lines of assembler source.

This code was quickly polished up and presented to IBM for evaluation. IBM found itself left with Microsoft's offering of "Microsoft Disk Operating System 1.0". An agreement was reached between the two, and IBM agreed to accept 86-DOS as the main operating system for their new PC. Microsoft purchased all rights to 86-DOS in July 1981, and "IBM Personal Computer DOS 1.0" was ready for the introduction of the IBM PC in October 1981. IBM subjected the operating system to an extensive quality-assurance program, reportedly found well over 300 bugs, and decided to rewrite the programs. This is why PC-DOS is copyrighted by both IBM and Microsoft.

It is sometimes amusing to reflect on the fact that the IBM PC was not originally intended to run MS-DOS. The target operating system at the end of the development was for a (not yet in existence) 8086 version of CP/M. On the other hand, when DOS was originally written the IBM PC did not yet exist! Although PC-DOS was bundled with the computer, Digital Research's CP/M-86 would probably have been the main operating system for the PC except for two things - Digital Research wanted $495 for CP/M-86 (considering PC-DOS was essentially free) and many software developers found it easier to port existing CP/M software to DOS than to the new version of CP/M. The IBM PC shipped without an operating system. IBM didn't start bundling DOS until the second generation AT/339 came out. You could order one of three operating systems for your PC, assuming you popped for the optional disk drive and 64k RAM upgrade (base models had 16k and a cassette player port). These operating systems were IBM Personal Computer DOS 1.0, a version of the UCSD p-System, which was an integrated Pascal operating system something like the souped-up BASIC operating systems used by the Commodore 64 and others, or Digital Research's CP/M-86, which was officially an option although you couldn't buy it until later. Since IBM's $39.95 DOS was far cheaper than anyone else's alternative, darned near everyone bought DOS.

Microsoft Press' "MSDOS Encyclopedia" shows a reproduction of a late DOS 1.25 OEM brochure. Microsoft was touting future enhancements to 1.25 including Xenix-compatible pipes, process forks, and multitasking, as well as "graphics and cursor positioning, kanji support, multi-user and hard disk support, and networking." Microsoft certainly thought big, but, alas, the forks, multitasking, and multiuser support never came about, at least in US versions of DOS. Oddly, the flyer claims:

"MS-DOS has no practical limit on disk size. MS-DOS uses 4-byte XENIX OS compatible pointers for file and disk capacity up to 4 gigabytes."

Umm... yeah. One sort of gets the idea nobody at Microsoft had a hard disk larger than 32 megabytes...
