We heard about Sony shutting down it’s Final Fantasy servers due to Japans Earthquake. It seems now it’s apple time to follow suit.
Piper Jaffrey’s analyst Gene Munster found out through his sources that most of Apple’s Japan based production lines went offline to assess their damage from the Japan disaster.
The two most important of these production associates are Toshiba and Mitsubishi Gas Chemical Co. Mitsubishi Gas Chemicals provides Apple with printed circuit boards while Toshiba is one of the worlds largest producer and Apples chief supplier of Flash Memory.
Munster notes that this delay might result in serious shortages of iPad 2 and iPhone 4. He also notes that Apple’s strategy of pre-booking might go a long way in helping Apple out of this mess.
Anyways, stay tuned for further updates.
