The program/software is a password cracker which can crack passwords at an rate of upto 12 million pw/s.
-Bruteforce:
You choose the number of characters, if you want uppercase, lowercase, numbers etc. and the brute force tries them out. This can take very long since there are much combinations.
For example, if you choose a combination off: 6 characters, all uppercase, all lowercase, all digits, all symbols and space there are 735 091 890 625 combinations possible and it would most likely take you 1 year to try them all.
-Dictionary:
You upload a password list (there are several on this forum) in the cracker and he tries all the passwords on this list for you. This is a smarter way since there are way less combinations in the password list than in the bruteforce but the combinations are more plausible.
